This is a really good video from Exchange Supplies, every users favourite organisation and at the forefront of developing really useful user friendly, health and harm reduction information and equipment for the drug using community.

They have made numerous videos but this is one of their most popular. It is a clear video shown in under 10 minutes,  that discusses the issue of citric acid (or vitamin C) -the powder many of us have to add to brown heroin in order to ‘break it down’ and make it work as an injectable solution. Now, we don’t of course need to do this with white heroin, but dark beige, brown or black heroin made up for injecting, will need citric acid or vitamin C added to it.

Now ok, we all know that. But what this video (and the research done at Exchange Supplies), they wanted to look into just HOW MUCH citric was enough.

It turns out that we all learnt 2 valuable lessons from ES working in the laboratory! Too much citric over the years -will fuck up your veins -and also your heroin – so there are 2 very good reasons to use less citric:

  1. to save your veins over the short and long term

  2.  To avoid destroying or reducing the quality of your heroin from over acidification

For all the details – watch this interesting video and pass the news on to your pals.

We know from the PH balance of the heroin, that by adding citric  we are making the substance more acidic -which is potentially more damaging for our veins. So it becomes important immediately to use as LESS citric acid as humanly possible to dissolve the gear.

A sprinkle. Start out tiny and add ONLY as you need it. Accept that if the heroin doesn’t dissolve after a minute -then it’s probably adulterant/cut and you want to filter it out, not try and dissolve it to inject.

BUT! The most fascinating thing about this research -though a very small experiment -it appeared that if you added more citric to your heroin mixture in the spoon, although you think you are dissolving the cruddy bits into clear liquid, getting all the heroin dissolved, it appears that we could be making a big mistake.

Heroin should dissolve very fast. If we still see cruddy floaty bits not dissolving after most of the gear has dissolved, then to try adding more citric could be just a big and hopeless mistake. This is because -heroin reaches a tipping point when the citric is added in the spoon, where it goes into a mostly or fully ‘dissolved’ injectable liquid…but then  IF we keep adding citric acid in our fruitless search for a 100% clean and clear heroin solution – we will be literally breaking down the actual quality of the heroin ! Arrghhh!

In other words – adding more citric than is needed to dissolve the heroin is a mistake that can actually cost you the quality of your heroin.

Heroin dissolves virtually straight away anyway once citric is added to it -so anything that is left over and floating on the top after the initial mix dissolves,  is more than likely to be rubbish you want to filter out anyway.

This is important because if you try and add more citric in the hope you will dissolve even more of the cruddy bits – you are risking destroying the quality of your heroin as it breaks down by way of over acidifying its PH levels -and becoming even worse for your veins.

Remember -too much citric over the years -will fuck up your veins -and your heroin -so there are 2 very good reasons to use less citric:

  1. to save your veins over the short and long term

  2.  To avoid destroying or reducing the quality of your heroin from over acidification

OK, so sit back and watch the video friends! And pass the information on to your pals!
